Is Jungle Float a... BOAT?

Picture
Jungle Float is new.  It's different and revolutionary.  It's being purchased all around the world.... don't insist that it is a "boat".

You should have no issue with operating Jungle Float in your area, as long as you decide how you wish to classify it.

FACT #1:  We have been inspected by the United States Coast Guard and we are listed as an approved boat manufacturer
FACT #2:  When you purchase Jungle Float, you are given a boat title with a HIN number, as any other boat
FACT #3   You can register your Jungle Float as you would any other boat

Many of our customers have done this and operate successfully...but you may not want to call it a BOAT.  If water authorities in your area have an issue with Jungle Float, please read on.

The United States Coast Guard has stated that "...some areas of the country (or the world) may not know how to classify Jungle Float and may erroneously insist that it be passed as a commercial vessel or uphold standards not intended for its use...".  There has been no issue with the excellent engineering, balance and safety standards of Jungle Float, as long as it is used as directed.  The biggest issue in some areas is ...

Is it a BOAT or SWIM PLATFORM?

Here is guidance that United States Coast Guard has given us.  Please make sure your local water authorities understand:

FACT #4   Jungle Float is not designed to move with customers on-board
FACT #5   You have no plans to be a "vessel under way" with passengers
FACT #6   Jungle Float is designed to be placed in 4 meters of water (or deeper), anchored or moored, then people play on it
FACT #7   Jungle Float could operate 6 meters from a dock, shoreline or swim area.  Stationary.
FACT #8   The purpose of the optional outboard engine is to put Jungle Float "into place".  It could operate without an engine by towing or pushing it into place.  The engine is never "on" with customers on-board.

If you assert these facts (4-8), your local water authorities are likely to approve of your new Jungle Float without issue because they see your characteristics of operating are not as a boat, but as a floating swim platform.  A floating swim platform is NOT under the jurisdiction of the United States Coast Guard or most other water authorities.  But understand, that these institutions want you to operate safely.

These facts illustrate that Jungle Float is not necessarily a boat.  It doesn't take passengers from A to B, it can operate close to a dock, and people play as it float STILL in the water.  It can be entirely classified as a Floating Swim Platform and if your authorities insist, the outboard engine can be taken  off and making it "not a boat" and as long as it floats in non-navigable waters.

For boats longer than 20ft, the USCG allows the manufacturer to set and approve the capacity of their vessel.  We have set Jungle Float (large size) capacity at 40 people, even though the weight capacity of Jungle Float is more than 10 tons.  Customers such as RockawayWaterPark.com in New York entertain hundreds of customers on their Jungle Float daily and this heavy usage has allowed us to develop small improvements on a regular basis.
